Adopting a dog.

Adopting a dog is a big decision, but if you are ready, we have many wonderful dogs just waiting for someone like you to give them a loving home.  Our dogs are listed on PetFinder. Please consider our special needs dogs, our seniors, and our too long overlooked dogs first.  Thank you.

Special needs dogs.

Stevie is blind

This beautiful 2 year old American Bulldog was born blind, but he does not know it! He loves to play fetch and is quite good at it. He might need a little more attention, but he is a sweetheart. He is house trained and obeys simple commands. He is treat driven by his sense of smell and rides in a car well. Stevie is curious to other dogs and cats, hesitant at first due to his blindness. In a new home Stevie will be confused initially by the new smells, but once he’s comfortable he’s an awesome boy! He likes to jump to show affection and loves to give kisses.

Sasha is deaf

Sasha is a volunteer favorite at the shelter! She is about 5 years old, 55 pounds and is deaf. She was surrendered to the shelter with large polyps in her ears. Her recent surgery to remove the polyps and prevent her going deaf, unfortunately left her deaf in both ears. Sasha is still a very friendly and active dog who likes to play fetch, but is also happy relaxing by your side. She is affectionate and loves any attention from the volunteers. She is dog friendly and was previously introduced to cats and did well also. If you would like to meet her, please contact Maria at 786-205-6865.

Senior Dogs

Golda is a very sweet and extra happy girl. Like most Boxers, Golda loves people and is super excited about everything.  Golda has a wonderful disposition towards people, even if she’s meeting them for the first time. Golda is extremely playful and she needs a lot of exercise and she will be great for an active family. She is a goofy bundle of enthusiasm, and would be well suited for a family with adults or older children. Please consider this sweetheart as your next companion.  Contact Maria at 786-205-6865 for more information.

Pudgey is a 10 year old chihuahua mix! Pudgey weighs 17 pounds and is quite the character, who will be sure to keep you laughing. He is very active and energetic, but his favorite thing to do is to sit on your lap and receive cuddles and pets. Pudgey gets along with other dogs and has lived with them in the past. Pudgey is a fun dog looking for his forever home, if you would like to meet Pudgey, please contact Maria at 786-205-6865.

Reese is a 10 year old Shepherd, Rottie Mix. Reese loves treats and they seem to be the way to his heart. He is non reactive to dogs and would probably be fine in a home with other friendly dogs. Reese loves to go on slow long walks and he loves to stop and take in all of the smells. Reese is looking for an adopter willing to put in the time to gain his trust. At the shelter, Reese is learning to trust the volunteers that take care of him, and we believe a home environment would continue to motivate his progress.

Luna is a calm, loving and smart. She was surrendered at the shelter when their owners moved away and couldn’t take her with them. Luna is super easy-going and not demanding, she likes to sit next to you, put her head in your lap and give you kisses. Luna is an obedient dog who knows how to sit, give paw, lay down, and even speak on command! She has been around children of 4 and 7 years old. She is an older dog who is desperately looking for a forever home. If you would like to meet Luna, please contact Maria at 786-205-6865.

Mimi is a wonderful mixed breed dog, who is a perfect size. Mimi’s one-ear-up, one-ear-down is adorable. She is very sweet and very shy. Once Mimi is leashed, she walks right by her handler’s side – no pulling or jumping. She has not shown any reaction to other dogs at the shelter. More than anything, Mimi loves to jump in the car and go for a ride, she is a well behaved rider. She also thoroughly enjoys a nice bath and a comb-out. Mimi needs an adopter who will understand her shyness. She loves getting pets from people walking by her and once she is attached to you, she is your buddy for life – she just needs time and patience until she gets to know you.

If you’d like to meet Mimi or for more information, please contact Cristiana at (786) 314-0039.

Kito is a sweet, laid back dog. He might be on the older side, but Kito looks and acts like a puppy (ok, not quite, but definitely does not act his age). Though laid back, Kito loves to play and is always ready for a game of fetch. Kito likes to go on walks and explore everything. Kito is a happy, friendly and outgoing dog, who would make a great family pet and would love to join your family. Kito would also be a great candidate for fostering due to his easy going nature. If interested please contact Maria at 786-205-6865.

Overlooked Dogs

Adonis is a German shepherd mix, smart, and is a very shy, sweet dog. Adonis walks well on a leash. Adonis likes to chew on fluffy toys, and he play fetch with you. Adonis was fostered for a couple months and he bonded with his foster mom, but he could not accept sharing living space with his foster dad (simply put, he prefers women). He gets along with other dogs, but he would rather be the only dog in the house. Once he gets settled, he will always greet you and wag his tail when you return. Please consider Adonis, he has been waiting too long for his forever family to find him. Contact Sophie at (786) 220-4958 to meet this wonderful guy.

Logan has been overlooked too long for no reason. He likes meeting new people and loves to play. He has a lot of energy, so he would be great for someone that has an active lifestyle and wants to take their 4-legged buddy on adventures.  We do not know what his breed combination is, but he is adorable nonetheless. Logan is not very big but he is sweet and needs a loving family to share his sweetness with.

If you are looking for a spunky and sweet companion, please call Sophie at (786) 220-4958.
